It is in 1860 that Heinrich von Ferstel, one of the big masters of Viennese historicism, built the palace which was promptly named after him.
This stunning palace has a neo-roman and renaissance style. The classy building accomodated the national bank and the stock exchange before a recent restoration saved the building from becoming ruined.
Inside the palace is the Freyung’s passage, arbored with elegant shops and boutiques which lead to the entrances of the central café.
